Once upon a time, learning to draw was a pre-requisite of anyone wanting to become an artist. Learning the rules of composition, the influence of mark making, style and the nature of light and form can add greatly to an artistic practice. In the collaborative digital works I undertake with Shayn, real drawn elements, created by human hand coupled with real human crafted sculptural elements add that traditional flavour. Most of the drawings shown here are simply practice portraits although some have inevitably found their way into our completed 2D works. The background drawings on these pages are all concept ideas taken from my notebooks.
I'm also begining to paint in oils though this will doubtless be a very, very long journey as the style I'm aiming for is inevitably Victorian and the Victorians did painting, like everything else, to an exceptionally high standard!
